Tried in Court. Trusted on Appeal.

For more than 17 years, I’ve dedicated my legal career to supporting children, families, and individuals through some of the most difficult moments of their lives. I became a lawyer in 2007, and ever since, I’ve worked in the courtroom, in the appellate courts, and alongside agencies across Texas to help people navigate complex, high-stakes legal situations with clarity and compassion.

Experience

My path has taken me through every stage of child protection law—from trying cases in front of juries to handling appeals before every Texas Court of Appeals and the Texas Supreme Court to drafting and analyzing legislation. As a former Deputy Public Defender, Assistant County Attorney, and Regional, Appellate, and Special Projects Attorney for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, I’ve seen firsthand the weight these cases carry and the profound impact they have on families and communities.

Recognized Leadership

I am Board Certified in Child Welfare Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and I remain deeply involved in shaping and strengthening the field. I serve on the Texas Supreme Court Children’s Commission Training Committee and Trial Skills Training Faculty, and I’ve held leadership roles within the State Bar’s Child Welfare Law Section—including Secretary, Treasurer, and now Vice Chair. I also regularly teach and develop MCLE programs for attorneys across Texas, including serving as Course Director for the Advanced Child Protection Law and Advanced Family Law Child Abuse and Neglect Workshop seminars. I am also humbled to have been recognized by my peers at DFPS through the 2019 Kathy Amonett Award for Excellence and for service to the Child Protection Law Section from 2019-2022 through the President’s Award.

Compassion

What matters most to me, though, is the people behind every case. Whether I am helping a parent fight for their rights, advising a trial attorney, or reviewing a difficult record on appeal, I approach each matter with patience, honesty, and a steady hand. I take time to understand the story beneath the surface because your case is more than a legal problem—it is your life, your family, and your future. My goal is not only to navigate the law, but to support the people living through it.
